Hallowell Todaro therapists worked with my son to develop a detailed and expansive accommodations letter in anticipation of his transition to middle school. It memorializes the accommodations he currently receives and also includes things that we never thought to ask for in elementary school -- accommodations that, should he make use of them, will help him better navigate the increasing requirements of middle school.
In particular, Jason Law is accessible and a calming force. I strongly recommend consulting with Hallowell Todaro ADHD Center.
This is another case where you wish you could write zero stars or negative stars instead of being forced to give one. My family’s experience at Hallowell Todaro has been abysmal. My child has been going there for two years and I consider her in worse shape than when she started. Checking with other therapists about the advice we have been given, their unanimous responses were that it is borderline criminal what they’re telling her at TH. Her counselor is very young and I have no sense that she has much real experience. It has been such a negative experience.
Rather than complain, originally, I thought I would respect the center by requesting a meeting to talk to them. I left three or four messages with the front desk for the director Todaro. She never returned any of them. Finally I drove all the way over there and spoke with a very nice young woman at the front desk who said “oh , she never answers her phone. send her an email she answers her emails every day “. it’s been two weeks and she hasn’t bothered to respond to our request for information and a meeting. While I recognize that everyone’s experiences will be different and that perhaps there are even a couple of parents who are happy taking their children there, I would strongly suggest you avoid this place as a resource. Bad restaurants only affect you for a day or two. Bad counseling can set you back a lifetime.
I was recently a client of Hallowell Todaro and echo many of the other opinions that this a poorly run organization. I initially had signed up for a group therapy 8 week session which provided a little insight into ADHD, but was overall lacking in useful content.
I proceeded with having the evaluation to recieve therapy as well as medication evaluation (I have been on ADHD meds for a few years, but wanted another opinion), and was approved to start meeting with a 'coachathisp (therapist / coach), as well as have the mediation evaluation.
My meetings with my coachathisp didnt provide much help considering the cost / time involved. The biggest take away I got after multiple meetings was how to use Google Calendar better. Many times on my Zoom meetings it seemed that the coachathisp was put on the spot by my ADHD conditions, and his 'wheels were spinning' trying to come up with any type of solution.
As for the medication evaluation, I scheduled mine a few months before the actual zoom call. The day of the call I heard from one of the receptionists at Hallowell Todaro 15min after the scheduled start of my call that the Dr / Nurse Practitioner had yet gotten my medical records and wanted to reschedule the call. As far as Im concerned, the medical records should have been accessed prior to our meeting. The receptionist re-scheduled my appointment with me and said that she was going to confirm the date / time with the doctor and get back to me; I never heard back from them.
Overall, I feel like Hallowell Todaro is pretty poorly run (maybe everyone working there has ADHD themselves), and wasnt worth the money / time I spent with them.
