Gym is nice. Pool is nice. It is very expensive. I signed our children up for a couple classes (there aren’t many options which is shocking considering this is the new facility), and the teachers have been very nice and patient. We haven’t attended the art class for my eight year old yet because the first week it was cancelled. I drove down to the gym and was told at the front desk about the cancellation which was somewhat frustrating. They assured me an email was sent to me though, and I assumed it had gone to my junk email or something, and so I left. I went home and looked thoroughly through my email and discovered that I never got one. I called them to let them know and was told by the other employee that an email wasn’t sent but it was suppose to send. I requested they send me the email because it had the “make up date” for the class in the email. Long story short, I still haven’t received the email. My only other complaint is that literally every time I go to the pool with my kids (which is the only reason we have a ymca membership really) there are entire families wearing clothes in the pool. I’m talking shirts, shorts, and socks. It’s very unsanitary. No one says anything to them and it constantly happens. Today we went swimming at around 1pm and not only did I see multiple people wearing t-shirts and socks, but there was a completely naked child in the pool. After about twenty minutes we realized he was naked because the parent removed his diaper and left it in the water with everyone. Pretty disturbing to have to swim around with people in their potentially dirty clothes and socks, and with a dirty diaper! It’s also frustrating that after swimming in such unsanitary conditions, you have to wait 25 minutes to use a shower. Otherwise, the employees are nice. It seems there isn’t much communication between the staff and potentially some lack of training, but you can’t really blame them for that. Besides. What else is there to do in Silverdale? Edit: today I took my kids to the Bremerton family ymca and WOW! What a HUGE difference. The pool is smaller, but not really, considering most of the haselwood pool is closed throughout the day anyways . The lifeguards were there to kindly enforce rules that made sense. Seriously the atmosphere as night and day. My favorite part about the Bremerton ymca is that there was a shelf with pool noodles and balls on it that said “for kid sad family use”!!! I still can’t believe it! Not only can you not use any of the haselwood’s balls or pools noodles, but during my last visit the lifeguard there stopped to ask me if I took the balls that I brought from the facility so she could take them away from my kids. I brought them . We got them at chuckee cheese . I spend almost $200 a month to use the pool like twice a month and I will officially be going to the Bremerton location only. Also, my kids and I always get itchy and red skin after being in the pool in Silverdale, we had absolutely no irritation at the Bremerton location. Don’t go to the Silverdale ymca unless you have to!
