Utter disbelief at how I was treated just calling in for a possible consultation! The woman I spoke to was rude, gave misinformation that I needed an attorney in another state and that they start off with a paid consultation ( which is fair ) but then stated this is a $6000 retainer straight off. How would you know it's a $6000 retainer without meeting with me first? After looking at the reviews, and my experience just over the phone, it looks like I dodged a bullet. Happy to say I've found a wonderful attorney elsewhere.
Please take your business elsewhere. I hired a lawyer last year from this business, but they mishandled my case from day 1. Lots of important points were ignored or dismissed, and my lawyer would wait until the last second to update me on important papers. For example, I would get a phone call at 2:30 p.m. from my lawyer to get signatures on legal documents that HAD to be submitted by 3:30 p.m. that day. I had less than 1 hour to review and ask questions. When I didn't agree or had further questions, my lawyer said there was no time and so I was forced to sign.
After they lost my case (I don't think I was presented well and I wasn't present for any of the hearings), I received a letter from my lawyer that they would no longer represent me. No reason.
I took my case to another lawyer who examined everything, and explained things that the Heritage Family Law lawyer failed to do. They did not submit the proper paperwork, motions, and all of that should have been a part of the fees. Heritage Family law also left me legally vulnerable to my ex husband who took full advantage of my lawyer's negligence.
I returned to Heritage Family Law to ask them if they would redress some of the open loopholes and not charge me. It's been about three weeks now, and I never heard a response.
If you're considering hiring a lawyer from this place, DON'T. Go elsewhere. They also didn't return my deposit until almost 2-3 months later when I had to remind them a third time.
