Professional, Friendly, On-time - correct estimates and explains everything before starting the project
Installed ceiling fan and light in no time and with minimal clean-up
perfect experience !
We hired Hitek Electrical to replace the old main panel (fused), sub panel, add an EV charger, security camera, and an outdoor outlet to our old San Leandro home (built in 1951). They also were upgrading our service to 200A, so PG&E was involved.
Right out of the gate it was a good experience. They have a dedicated office manager that spoke fluent English (along with all of their employees) and was easy to communicate with. We quickly established a date for quotation.
On the quote date, Aurelio arrived on time and took note of all of my requests. He was able to accommodate my request of Square D QO panels (Made in USA) and the quote was provided on the same day as the visit. The quote was ~25% less than the other quote we had done by Fuse Services. Hitek made it clear that the installation would require 2-phases with no guaranteed timeline since the second phase was reliant on PG&E's scheduling.
Phase 1 was the installation of the main and sub panel equipment. Phase 2 was the PG&E transfer to our new main panel (200A) and the installation of the EV charger, outlet, and security camera.
Phase 1 occurred fairly quickly after hire. Only a few weeks were required to get the parts and installation was done in 1 day with a 2 man crew. After a month or two, PG&E confirmed they were ready for Phase 2 and the office manager scheduled a day to make the swap and complete the installation. Throughout these few months the office manager was communicative and answered any questions quickly. Phase 2 also only took 1 day to complete with a 1 man crew. They even threw in a new outlet for my garage door, so I didn't need an extension cable!
After Phase 2 I was having odd voltage fluctuations in the house. It ended up being PG&E's neutral connection at the pole. Pro-Tip: Have PG&E inspect your neutral connection at the pole when doing the meter swap.
The city inspector unfortunately required a change prior to permitting (recessed sub panel needed to be wall mount), but Hitek made the change for free. In all honestly I preferred the recessed panel, but you can't argue with city inspectors. After ~2 more weeks the work was re-inspected and passed.
My only complaint is that some interior drywall damage occurred during Phase 1 and Hitek would not repair it, and did not offer a deduct for the repair. I wish I would have known this prior to the work but the damage was minor and I could repair it on my own. Be sure to ask what the scope of coverage would be should damage be incurred during installation!
The wiring quality is immaculate in both panels. The stucco and wood work quality was good, but it's always hard to see new holes get drilled in your old home. However, everything was sealed up well and functional.
Throughout the whole experience Hitek was professional, on time, communicated well, and ended very close to their quoted cost.
Pictures show the old panels/electrical and the new work.
We scheduled everything with in less than a week, the first guy that came over to give us the quote was knowledgeable but only stayed for like 3 min. I told him what we wanted to get: replace ceiling fan, remove track lights and replace the switch. We got a quote within 15 min after he left. Seeing that we have a 12' ceiling, I didn't think the quote would be cheap, I was wrong, the quote was very reasonable.
We went ahead and went with the service, scheduling the project was very easy and their customer service was outstanding. I thought the same guy that did the quote was going to show up to do the work. Instead, it was another electrician, he was very professional, relatable and got to work right away. He was very friendly and answered all our questions and concerns.
I would highly recommend Hitek Electrical to anybody who has projects that need to be done. Overall, it was a great experience and only took a week from getting a quote to completing the project.
