I can't express how grateful I am this store is open and running. I am SO committed to eradicating plastic in my life, supporting non-corporate earth-friendly business AND buying local (of course!). This store is like an answer to my prayers because I'm not a "I make my own EVERYTHING" kind of person--- and cringe buying all of the plastic-containered "earth friendly" products on the market.
Yes, it's true that prices are higher than at your grocery store, but there's a million good reasons for that. I am by NO means well off, so I say this from a solidly lower-middle class perspective.
First, none of the ingredients included in these products are subsidized by our taxes the way Big Ag, Pharma, and Tech are. Secondly, they are crafted by conscientious people using the highest-quality ingredients (not corporations with major profit as their only end goal). Third, many of the products (like laundry/dish soaps) leave out the unnecessary fillers that make lovely suds or a thicker consistency, so they're more concentrated and last longer. Fourth, it's time we re-think how much we're using, how often we use water/products to do laundry, etc. etc. so you become more mindful and conservative. Finally - you're doing the right thing and honoring your integrity, and that's worth it to me.
Thank you thank you thank you for making our world a better and healthier place. I hope you are approached by others who want to open other businesses like yours in other Sonoma County towns (how about Penngrove or Cotati...just sayin' ;-)
