A new LIHEAP customer and very grateful for the energy assistance. The representatives are responsive which is commendable! In March 2023, I received an offer from Hopelink asking if I need an air conditioner (as a part of the program). I was EXCITED!! At the same time, I thought, "March? So soon?" (Didn't expect a May heatwave.) Amazon documented the AC as delivered on 3/30/23. It was not delivered to the door, just carelessly left elsewhere on the property. For the days that followed, a neighbor saw a mini refrigerator in parking lot A, parking lot B, by the elevator in another building, etc. Found out it was the AC and Property Management got involved. That made a stressful situation worse. Hopelink stated Amazon would pick it up to return it. I never received it and hope it was returned. Hopelink sent information on the non delivered AC. As it turns out, I would not have been able to lift or use it. We have been in the middle of a May 2023 heat wave for about a week. I contacted Hopelink to see if I could request a cold air fan (with an ice/water chamber) instead. The email reply states that fans are not covered in the policy. I requested a copy of the original policy. I received half a page of what is called the revised policy without signatures or original dates. However, based on the half page policy I received: Renters have only one AC option. An AC that can only be used in vertical (up & down) windows with a window hose attachment. Homeowners have two AC options. Hopelink chooses the AC. A replacement AC was offered. I declined. Update 6/20/23: I have been requesting a copy of the original policy with signatures and the original date for three weeks. It is my hope that others eligible for the the LIHEAP AC program will actually receive Air Conditioners they can lift and use.
