On Wednesday our garage door wouldn't shut. Instant Garage Door was upfront about the fact that they didn't have any appointments until Monday - I called around and no one else had an opening either. I'm REALLY glad I stuck with Instant Garage Door. That honesty about what they can do and what they can't set the tone for the rest of the service call.
Wesley came out, showed me how the system worked, and pointed out the specific problems that were causing the door to not shut AND the mechanical reasons why we kept having track problems.
Wesley presented us with several different options (from "just fix the breakage" up to "perform all the overdue maintenance and replace soon-to-break parts"). I really appreciated the respect he showed me by not just making recommendations, but helping me understand the choice I was making. I elected to fix the breakage and get the maintenance done (re-lube, un-bend the rails, replace old wheels that were making the motor work harder than it needs to), but stick with my old motor because it could last longer. He made sure I had the price ranges for a new motor and the installation cost, and gave me tips if I wanted to get a cheaper system.
There's a bunch of people in this world who will tell you what you ought to do. There's far fewer who will help you understand your options and why to choose between them. I know exactly what I got: a much quieter garage door that stays on its tracks, and my old motor that I expect I'll have Instant Garage Door out to fix in a year or two. Exactly what I wanted for a good price.
Thanks for the great work!
PS: IGD called me a few hours after the service call to make sure I was happy and that I didn't need anything else. Clearly a company that cares about the customer.
