This place is a gem, but it won't be open much longer if they don't change. The food is great. The staff is wonderful. The menu is great.
The portions are far too large. It means that people order fewer dishes and fewer drinks because they get too full too fast. I ordered a salad and entree and was so full after the salad I took 90% of the entree home. Which means I also have days of food for leftovers and won't go back to the restaurant again this week.
Large portions also don't make the meal as special. It feels like there's SO much that it's not unique. The flavors are all muted because there is too much starch.
Look at the best restaurants in the world. What do their dishes look like? How big are they? Clearly there's a scale here. Go to even the best mainstream restaurants in Seattle and do some research. Flint Creek in Greenwood. Look at the balance of the portions on the plate. FC has been voted best restaurant in Seattle a few years now, clearly Eric has this formula down.
The atmosphere is clean but aging and feels tired. The bar is very small and not maximized in the space.
I want this place to succeed and hope the management makes some changes to keep it open.
