As others have said, the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. Stuff costs more than online, but I found it generally all works out to be the same once shipping, the inevitable screws up in online ordering (HobbyKing, I'm thinking of your horrible website...), and time wasted waiting for packages to arrive is factored in. For my first RC airplane project, I spent a month messing around with online parts before finally just going in and getting the advice and parts I needed in fifteen minutes; was flying later that day. Have also gotten advice and parts for repairing old HO locos and wagons.

Can't say enough positive things about every single one of the staff members at this shop. They are all experts and have tons of patience to help with any project you may have. Compared to the big online retailers, I would go here 10 out of 10 times instead. They have a huge inventory and even stock items that are really hard to find no matter where you look. They are much more than just a hobby shop where you can buy what you need...you can't find good advice and guidance like they provide at any price. ☺

This is mostly for model planes, trains, and things of that sort. I went in looking for soldering accessories, and while they had a couple things, they didn't have small enough solder or some of the other things I was looking for. The guy working there recommended another local shop in San Mateo that had exactly what I was looking for.
The employees are really nice and helpful, even if they don't have what you need.
