I used them to prepare last year's taxes, and to help me get my LLC and to do my monthly payroll. I was a newbie in the business accounting field, so it took me awhile to become aware that I was paying significantly more (twice as much) than other colleagues for the same services. I also feel that I was promised a lot more in terms of personal service than I got-- in fact, I would characterize some communication as rude, such as when "wrong and late" was scrawled on one of my spreadsheets, when in fact a courtesy phone call could have alerted me to my mistake. Fees were not always disclosed in advance and as I mentioned, were very high. Example: $700 to do corporate taxes and $275 to do very basic personal taxes (This is literally 2X more than the accountant I transferred to.) The accountant, Jennifer Jones, was talking very fast when she told me the cost and urged me to act at once when I expressed hesitation about filing. It was actually her pressured speech that caused me to question whether I should explore other options. Payroll and quarterly report fees also cost approximately twice as much as other accountants. Finally--and this would be petty if it didn't happen in the context of poor customer service-- Jennifer ignored my direction to discontinue using the debit card I had on file with them since I was changing banks and drawing my account balance down prior to closing it. The $45 fee she charged for the 1099 she prepared (for the services they had provided) ended up also costing me a $37 overdraft fee from the bank. On the positive side, I had a few conversations earlier last year with an employee, Maggie Jones, who was always helpful if and when I initiated contact. And my current accountant stated that the binder I was provided with my LCC was thorough.
