Super disappointing! Called to establish care with this office as this is the ONLY office for Blue Sheild accepting new patients. You can't just get an annual ob checkup and birth control with private insurance though. Per my conversation with the office gal, once you get a referral from primary care/walk in clinic/urgent care you wait the average of 4 week waiting period to find out if they will accually accept you or not.
I asked the friendly woman who answered the phone the point of getting a referral from a walk in or urgent care is as they have no medical history on you either. She let me know that's just how they are filtering people due to the overwhelming number of people. The referral process buys them time (by wasting my time with more time off work to get this generic referal) from an already overwhelmed urgent care dr who didn't have an urgent reason to see me, have any history on me, to refer me to see another dr for quite general care. Instead of yep, let's get you on the books, we are about 4 weeks out right now.....it's let's see if you loose interest jumping through these hoops and reduce the # of people we need to accommodate on our schedule.
Then let's wonder when you haven't been seen in years, something is actually wrong and ask then why people are so behind of taking care of themselves! It's SO sad that state funded care is ten million percent better than care via private insurance. The state puts so much pressure on the providers and managed insurance via the state to provide consistent care, private insurance could do a thing or two so we can get care too! Shame on this office!
