We have been trying to enroll my brother-in-law to Job Corps, and the process with the agency in Olympia - which is supposed to be helping us - has been incredibly frustrating. We started the process when he turned 16 in 2022. We had a social worker/recruiter take all the information and paperwork they needed and assured us that it would be a pretty quick process. We go through months without hearing from them. He wanted to go the Sierra Nevada campus. First we are told that admissions to that campus would be quicker, then we were told we had to choose a campus closer to our state. He chose the Springdale campus Months go by, we hear nothing, then we get a random to campu We contact our Olympia representative sinc She was supposed to contact us ahead of time to prepare, and she tells us the Springdale campus made a mistake. We wait again. We don’t hear for a month or so and we get another message from Springdale stating the same thing. We contact our representative, again, and she states that the message was, again, a mistake. Then she tells us that Springdale has been having issues and renovations on campus, so they were only admitting 1-2 students monthly, but that our brother was on top of the list for the next ones and that we should know in a few weeks. That was in February of this year. We did attempt to contact them again in late May of this year, and they told us that he a new social worker/recruiter, but wouldn’t give us their number. There’s that. Plenty of government aid and options to help kids go forth the productive path, but the system regularly fails them. Thanks, Olympia recruiters!
