Everything in the Army is what you make of it. If you get out and check out the surrounding areas, you'll have a blast. If you're stuck in the barracks all the time, you might miss the opportunity to enjoy it. There are major entertainment venues, casinos, restaurants, outdoor trails, etc. The best part of being at JBLM is the people and friends you'll make life long connections with.

While the beds were comfortable and the AC worked, that’s the extend of its “niceness”.
Terrible water pressure in the shower, carpet so dirty that it made the bottoms of my kids feet black, no fire sprinkler, no working phone, TV picture was grainy.

Great place, next to the lake. We stayed at the travel camp on the North side. They need to trim some of their trees so it doesn't scratch people's RV. Asked a couple of times for this to be done and they still didn't do it right and they only did one tree. Also the best lake view spots are only given to three day campers which isn't fair especially if the spot is open. We stayed for one full week. Other then that, the base was nice and we felt safe as we always do at military bases.
