Came here when I first moved to the area probably about 2015. I had missed my 6 month cleaning so it had been 1 year. I walked out after my cleaning with a page long list of items they claim I needed to have done.
This surprised me because at my old dentist, they hadn’t told me anything about future dental work and I found it hard to believe my dental health has regressed that much, that quickly. I also had multiple periodontal gum measurements that were in the extremely poor range.
I went for a second opinion at another Redmond dentist and they told me I was fine. My lowest periodontal measurement was a 4. This was many steps better than what I was told here. I asked if this was a subjective number and they said no. All dentist should be able to measure gums within a small margin of error.
The only thing I could come to conclusion is that they wanted to use my good insurance to perform procedures that weren’t necessary. I saved myself a lot of pain and money by going elsewhere.
They were friendly here, hence 2 stars and not 1 star. I’m not a dentist but I didn’t feel comfortable coming back based on what my my old and new dentist had said.
(Forgot to add that my wife hadn’t been to a dentist in years and didn’t have the best at home care. Her list was just as long as mine. Her list of needed care seemed to make more sense but not mine. She switched as well after hearing what I said about my new dentist. We both haven’t looked back.)
I am so glad to have found Dr. Katie Ostler and her team. I feel I am in the best of hands with well trained, friendly, professional staff and a dentist that is passionate about her work and life. Dr. Ostler addressed and treated an area of gum recession that was very painful and cold sensitive, and got me going toward preventing future issues with a night time mouth guard (created with digital mapping technology), and a prescription toothpaste. She encouraged me to try a sonicare toothbrush again (I stopped using mine because my teeth were too sensitive) and I’m happy to say that now that my mouth is healthier, I can use the sonicare comfortably. The office is updated with new equipment and everything is clean and bright. There is a ceiling-mounted screen for watching Netflix while getting fillings and such. I love the atmosphere of the building. Booking, cost estimates, insurance, and payment is handled quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend Dr. Ostler and her team.
