I brought my guitar in for a set up and pickup replacement. I was told because of back to school, it would take more than a week. The tech called me and was friendly, letting me know that the pickups I wanted to swap were not as good as the ones I had already. This is a new guitar, so I didn’t know what pickups it had. It also came with a second pair. I digress. We agreed that he would not replace the pickups and start the set up. He said I could pick it up the next day.
I picked up the guitar and was charged for 1.5 hours of labor. That seemed fair. However, when I got home, there were several issues: not in tune, dead notes below the 12th fret, and it was not cleaned. Granted, he replaced the strings so I’ll forgive the tuning issues. But the action was not proper, so the guitar was unplayable. I adjusted the action on my own, and it’s fine.
I’m just disappointed. I feel like I shouldn’t have to do any work after paying $150. I also can’t believe that an hour+ of work was performed since intonation was off and the trem/bridge had finger prints everywhere. I appreciate the polish job on the fretboard, the rosewood has never looked better. Other than that, it looked very similar to when I brought it in.
Last of all, I called the store. I was told that the tech left for the day. I asked the gentleman on the phone if he could diagnose the issue. He said I’d have to bring it in. I don’t see the point now. This was my first and likely only experience with this store. There’s context to everything and I know things get missed, but this gives me little confidence in returning. I have several guitars I wanted to bring in and have work done on. But I’ll teach myself.
The guitar tech didn’t do what I asked for he charged me for tightening up my input and that was it I specifically said that it made popping sounds while moving around so I went out there for nothing all I asked for was a new solder then he replaced other stuff on my guitar without my permission and put new strings and on charged me for those when I have my own and home and like to do it myself charged me almost $200 when I told him I was low on cash at the moment I will not be returning back
