Select workers don't care for the people that want to enjoy the gym space. I was with around 10 friends wanting to set up the volleyball net in the gym so we could play. The worker refused to let us saying it was "basketball scheduling" when it clearly said on the schedule that it was open gym time for everyone. We have never had this problem on saturdays before, we just needed to have at least 10 people to want to set it up and we could. Not only that but we had to leave when only 2 basketball players were using one hoop in the entire gym and yet it was still a problem to set up the net when nobody was there. We always offer to set up and take down the net ourselves when we play and yet the worker still doesn't allow us to use the facilities that we paid membership for. We never have this problem with our favorite employee Warren who is kind and helpful to assist us, the new employee is rude, lazy, and just doesn't care about her job.

Nice clean new gym with swimming area, lockers, showers, small indoor track, two full size basketball courts, several exercise studios, and a plethora of lifting & cardio equipment. Got super friendly service the moment I got there!
Ps. All the brand new plumbing makes the water fountains water taste delightfully clean and fresh!

My family and friends enjoy the Kent YMCA's open gym policy, which allows us to play basketball games and practice our skills. The YMCA understands that many of its members, especially those with children, enjoy using the open gym for basketball, and this location caters to this preference. I stopped going to the Matt Griffin YMCA because it often hosted different activities, which left only half of the gym available for basketball use sometimes, which was frustrating for many members. I appreciate the excellent customer service and professionalism of the Kent YMCA staff, and I am always impressed by the cleanliness of the facility.
