They had us pay a fee in order for them to send referrals for the type of lawyer we need but no one has contacted us for the past couple of days. They were more concerned on how we will make the payment rather than actually helping.

I'm not sure how KCBA has such a low overall rating. The pro bono neighborhood legal clinic is an amazing no cost resource. I have used it three times and the lawyers have been incredibly knowledgeable and resourceful. I guess the only "problem" is that it can take a while to get an appointment. This is a free resource and it is understandable that they are busy.

I filled out the online CLIENT INTAKE FORM, and got a call for a phone appointment 2 days later. And the advice was very refreshing, he gave me enough information to do the research myself but the confidence to know my rights. It had to do with APT evictions, I was so impressed with their help, I donated to their cause. Remember its free, if you want better service, then you should hire a lawyer.
