It was quite a cultural exploration being at the restaurant! We ordered a beef combo. Best stake ever! Friendly staff and delicious juicy meats. I'd definitely return!!
This was my first visit this place but it turned out to be below my expectation.
The meats were served already cooked. The serving staff will heat up more on the grill at the table but I didn't like it cuz I am not sure if this was fresh meat or how long it was seating there. The worse part was the meats were rubbery (I am Korean so I know how the intestine should properly be chewy or rubbery chewy), I wish I could cook myself so that I adjust the level. I loved the Daechang (large intestine) though.
Spicy Gopchang (Stir Tripe) I ordered this to-go. Maybe my expectation was too high. It tastes more like powdery Gochujang paste sauce (텁텁한 고추장맛). Whenever I cook at home, it tastes this so I gave up and go to Intestine specialty restaurants in Korea (I think it is some secret recipe). I don't see any point to order it from here.
Ambience: It feels like I was in Korea at the moment. Very familiar atmosphere. They have their own unique themed decor, colorful LED lights, 2 big mascot frogs (of Soju company 'Jinro') for photoshoot at the entrance. The place is inviting, busy, lively and bright with about 20-30 tables.
Service: The server was really friendly, attentive and quick. Couldn't ask his name but I would give him 10 stars!
Hygiene: Cups, Utensils, plates, tables, floors were clean.
Price: Medium $73 or Large $96. Wish prices were a bit lower or increase the amount.
Restroom: It was clean. Gender separated.
Location: It is conveniently located next to pho place, shabushabu restaurant, on top of that Korean hypermarket Zion Market so it is good to eat here before/after shopping (that's what I did lol)!
Parking: It is in the shopping & restaurant plaza so there is a plenty of parking.
ETC It is a busy place, get a reservation with Yelp.
[Will I be back?] I thought the restaurant name (King Chang) gave me some hint that its specialty is Gopchang but sadly it failed to win my heart. Although it was a bit disappointing this time, maybe I would give it another shot when I'm in the area for beef (marbling looked awesome!) and their above and beyond service but I'd rather try other places for Gopchang (intestine) next time I visit LA.
