i was the only latino in the store, and i was being followed by a male employee, even when going across the store to look for a certain item. i believe he assumed i was there to steal? ive never had this experience at any other kinokuniya. i felt upset and uncomfortable, especially since i went to the store with the intent of making a purchase. i will not be returning to this location.

I loved this store but the employees are terrible at being discreet when they're following you. I am white, was wearing a black hoodie, black hat and baggy pants. I think they thought I was going to steal? This male employee just stands in the tiny aisle staring at me and following me throughout. Im sure if you are BIPOC the experience is even worse!

I went to this store to purchase a gift. I’m Latina and my partner is African American. We went together. I knew what I wanted to purchase, but I was also looking at their Hello Kitty items. One of the store reps came near me and pretended to dust the items near me. Did she think I was going to steal? She did not play off her bigotry. I asked my partner if he noticed this also and he agreed. Beware if you’re a non-Asian POC. I will never shop here again.
