My Daddy passed on Dec. 3 2022 and he was cremated through Klontz. My Mom was very satisfied with the process and felt they were helpful and professional. However that all changed a few day after she had picked up the pretty wooden urn/box. Mommy wanted me to go look at the box and see how pretty it was. I went in to get the box and picked it up. I was looking at all the detail when my husband came in to the room and said with great urgency to put the box down. I didn't understand what was going on so he quickly grabbed the box and turned it on it's side. My Daddy had been pouring out of the bottom of the box and on to the floor. Mom fell to her knees and we started scooping him up. She was absolutely, screaming and crying about how could this happen. She contacted Klontz the following day because it was after hours. She was told this had never happened before. Several days later and we were not happy with their responses. Mom went in there and put her foot down and was told that she would be refunded the cost of the cremation and they would upgrade her to a dbl urn/box to accommodate her as well. Sounds good so far right? Well after us calling multiple times and basically badgering them, we received the reimbursement check nearly 6 mths later. we were told corporate was located in Florida and it would take time. Why, you made a mistake, promised to reimburse and then took forever doing so. We only got the check because WE followed up regularly, NOT YOU. A short time after Dad died and before the extremely long wait for the reimbursement, Mom made her cremation arrangements with the same company because that was hers and Dads plans from the beginning. She purchased a membership to a group so I could get a discount upon her passing. She had stage 4 lung cancer and had less that a year to live. She purchased it and was told it was good for a year. She passed in Sept 2023 and the membership was not honored because it expired 4 months after she purchased it. While in my home the gentleman asked the gal to hand him the toe tag for the body. I became upset and told him that that is my Mother and not a body and to show my Mother, myself and my family some respect during this very emotional time. My husband had to help him down the steps from my home because the gal was being overly talkative. We didn't want her (the body as he put it) being bounced down the stairs. After signing all the documents, a few days later I returned to the office to speak of not being happy with how things were handled. I was given a discount and once again told it would take a little bit because it was coming from corporate. I asked for her to be fingerprinted because my sons wanted tattoos of them put over their heart. When I picked up the ashes, the fingerprints were not with her and the ashes I asked them to set aside for my children were not there either. They took the urn in the back room and rummaged through her and my Dads ashes, bringing me back the wrong number of vials and had to get into it again. I felt like the were violating my parents. In the end I received the menial discount in May 2024 after 8 months of waiting for it and consistently calling them to follow up. Not once did I receive a call from them updating me on the situation. They finally had me come pick up her fingerprints and I am certain they are not hers but can't get the police department to match them to her concealed weapons permit prints. Who knows who they belong to but they are way too large to be hers.
