Kyle Smith Guitar Lessons

I highly recommend Kyle as a music teacher. I have been his student since he was living, teaching, and performing regularly in Eugene. When I originally approached him for help with my guitar playing, I explained that I was seeking guidance for going beyond learning new songs from a page of notation or tab or from videos. I wanted help delving into the mechanics of music and how they relate to the guitar through the scope of jazz. I needed a progressive program that would allow me to stay motivated and not be overwhelmed by the endlessly available info one can find searching through books and the internet, especially given my limited available practice time. Kyle has truly delivered this instruction and mentorship for me. He is warm, compassionate, understanding, and a great listener to his students’ wants and needs. He has shared many ways of learning the material with the intention of reducing student frustration. He methodically cycles through material to match one’s current ability and then revisits concepts with the student to synthesize ideas and concepts that gain wider applicability over time. He is extremely flexible with scheduling, so I have tried to do the same for him (despite his tremendous dedication to guitar instruction, he does have a life outside of it). If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on playing music and want a friendly, accomplished musician and teacher to provide it, look no further. Kyle is the real deal!

My 11 year old Grandson has been a student of Kyle for a couple years. The boy has ADHD, so it requires extra patience and creativity on Kyle's part to succeed with a student like this. We are so glad to have found a skilled and talented teacher of Kyle's caliber, who not only has those qualities, but as truly befriended my Grandson! Kyle is a great guitar teacher. He has a deep knowledge of the material; and makes it interesting to learn. He will fit the lesson to the students needs and will accommodate any unexpected time changes when he can.
