I went to la petite for a tour with my 4 year old daughter Lorna “the director” welcomed us she started the tour process and was printing out all required documents for me to enroll my daughter I then disclosed that my daughter was autistic but is very high functioning, Lorna then stopped in her tracks and proceeded to tell me that my daughter would be too much for them to handle and turned us away. La petite promotes they do care for children with disabilities and do not discriminate and welcomes them into their program on the website but they have certain steps to take by obtaining any Iep, assessment’s , or reports the child has and that would determine their eligibility. None of those steps were taken we were just turned away by the words “autism”. This is very unfortunate and broke my heart. It is extremely hard to find child care for children with disability’s I would think such a big organization that families are privately paying for would have recourses and trainings for their employers on how to care for children with disabilities it is very upsetting I feel we were discriminated against
