My dad, Scott & his lady friend used to frequent this place often. It was his favorite! He usually ordered the fruitti di mare with a bourbon & ginger ale. It has been 8yrs now since he passed but I still remember how they would greet him by name & were so kind. He’d bring us here when we’d visit. It was so good & the homemade focaccia & tomato dip, just delicious! This restaurant in Old Town is just so unique & special! Love the area! The owner & staff are so welcoming & attentive. My husband noticed the owner tending bar, greeting guests, serving customers! Impressive! We now stay part time at the marina & part time in the city so plan to dine at La Veranda more often. We’ve tried a few restaurants in the area just to be disappointed. La Veranda is by far the best! The prices are great & $8 cocktails? I’m sold! I read a few reviews from other diners of color who felt slighted. I’m sorry they had such an experience. My husband is Filipino & I’m half and we were treated very well on a busy Saturday night.
A friend suggested this place, and I was blown away by how tasty the sundried tomato dip AND the bread was, I ended up losing control and had more slices than I should plus ask for seconds, even though none of my friends ate it.
Then the Mushroom Risotto came, and I started another love affair. This time, I had enough awareness to just eat half, because I wanted to share it with my boys so they can try it.
