I arrived for my appointment at the beginning of this month and was seen to quickly by the polite and friendly receptionist. The doctor, however, immediately asked me what I was doing to "cure my diabetes", and launched into a 40 minute lecture about how I should lose weight and how to structure my diet in order to cure myself. I am not overweight, but he continued to insist I needed to drop more pounds if I wanted to continue seeing, despite getting clear scans of health on both eyes. While he was lecturing me, I could hear someone screaming in the other room... crying, wailing, sobbing.
After the appointment I asked my wife, who had been in the waiting room, what happened. She said a woman had come in and had a meltdown because the doctor had fatshamed and lectured her daughter, who was a long time eating disorder survivor and was now crying in their car. After the woman left the receptionist whispered to her friend "well... he does tend to say things like that".
This is a pattern of behavior, clearly. While he was telling me to lose weight and cure an incurable disorder, someone else was screaming about him doing the same to her kid a few rooms away.
Fast forward, I receive a text saying my glasses are ready. I drive half an hour to pick them up. Oops! Someone put someone else's glasses in my file and notified me. Not only are those not my glasses, mine haven't arrived after a month of waiting and I need to go home and wait for another notification to come pick them up.
The receptionists are sweet but this place is an absolute mess. God willing I ever actually get my glasses, I will not be returning. Big yikes!
