Unfortunately, my experience with Laura Thomas was a nightmare. Her first comment to me on meeting was, "I have been in this business for 20 years and I deserve 6%. That should have been my Red Flag. The property at issue is horse property that is in a family trust w/ my brother-in-law as Trustee. She limited her marketing to the immediate neighborhood. Her one offer was $450,000 under asking, which I rejected immediately as too low. She advised this person to open escrow w/ his money and, w/o my knowledge, called my agent in Colorado to say she had a firm offer. When I tried to take the property off the market, Laura refused to cancel the listing and put it on HOLD, thus preventing me from selling by owner w/o giving Laura a commission. It was always clear that her agenda was a commission, regardless of what the seller's wishes were. 3 months into this nightmare, no one has been shown the property, C21 is still showing the property as on HOLD, Laura still will not release the listing, and her Broker will not cooperate w/ the seller's wishes. I post this review simply to alert anyone considering listing their property w/ C21 - think carefully before using Laura Thomas or C21 in Irvine, lest you have an experience like mine. I have had to delay my move for 6 months, lost 3 properties that were perfect for me, and w/ the rising interest rates, the market will suffer and cost me additional time and money to move on. My only recourse is to file a formal complaint w/ the Board of Realtors and sue for financial damages when and/or if that becomes the issue.
