Amazing acupuncture treatment! Warm, welcoming, listening doctor who treated me for a variety of problems (one at a time). Dr. Park has helped me with early onset arthritis (I am 29), pain with a car accident (rearended), any strains, aches, and pains that I would accumulate from my physically demanding job. In about 4-6 sessions arthritis in my hands completely went away. I had been in pain for over 3 years, and now i know it was unnecessary pain bc he helped me in about 2 months, with immediate relief within the first 2 sessions. He is extremely knowledgeable and kind and very open to questions and aftercare help.
But the most encouraging thing besides the progress on my treatment is how much Dr. Park cares for his patients. He truly listens and checks in on whats going on with your life. It is that warmth and care that people walk away remembering, and it gives the patient hope for a speedy recovery. But also to know someone is on your team, rooting for you, it means so much. I genuinely looked forward to each treatment because of this. My acupuncture treatments with the doctor really adds a lot of positivity and motivation to push through in my life.
On logistical note, this place is covered by monarch medi-cal and you can go 2x a month indefinitely so take advantage of this wonderful offering! I recommend this place to anyone who needs help with arthritis, random pains, etc. I know acupuncture in general can help with even things like allergies, so call ahead to see if he can help you with your health!
What a session looks like: First session you have a conversation with Dr. Park so he can gauge what you need. You then go into the room and depending on what is needed he might give you a gown to change into. I usually wear a tank top and shorts to make it easier.
After you change he will palpate a few acupressure points to further gauge what is needed. Depending on how chronic or severe your condition is, this may be painful (like on a scale of 1-10, a 1 or 1.5). Pain is good though, as it indicates that that is the correct spot. He will then needle very carefully and check in if you feel too much pain. Pain comes from the release of tension in your body. He will adjust to what you need.
After he puts 10-20 needles in, he will turn on an infrared light and if you like, he will turn off the overhead lights. You relax (and maybe sleep) for 30 minutes and let the acupuncture do its thing. He then will remove the needles and you feel super relaxed and good. Better than a massage! If you have questions for aftercare, ask him then :)
Youre done and can book your next treatment after you get dressed again.
