Where to begin? I am not even a full month in living here and it has been a disaster at the least. I should have listened to the reviews on here because they are accurate: HEALTH CONCERNS.
A first hint should have been the no walk through. I asked to do a walk through before my official move-in date and he said that the "apartment wasn't ready"... Interestingly, the apartment STILL was not ready even upon my move in.
The assistant manager made me aware of some issues that maintenance would be promptly taking care of. Those issues included: no light in the fridge, missing blinds, a loose cupboard door, some deep scratches in the side of the cupboard. The assistant manager was in such a rush during my move in day I didn't have a chance to look at the apartment thoroughly while he was on the premises. A comment he made that stuck out to me was "yeah It's pretty nice here for the price"... One thing I did point out was the feces and pungent smell on the downstair's neighbors patio.
After he left in such a rush I started to explore the apartment more. I noticed the bathtub was still filthy so I made note of that. I LOVED the high-quality laminate. The carpet in the back two rooms were obviously very old, though. At first glance you can tell that the carpets were vacuumed and you could smell that they had been shampooed. But when I looked closely, there were ROCKS, glitter/confetti pieces, and so much hair. I called the assistant manager immediately to make him aware of the carpet and bathroom and had to convince him to have their cleaners come back out and re-clean before I officially moved in. He finally agreed and they "apparently" came out again that day. They definitely did, but only to pick up the obvious debris by hand. I vacuumed myself and rocks, HAIR (still finding the hair btw) and more glitter came up.
Come the first night my young children and I move in, I start noticing a plethora of issues:
So, obviously infuriating, but more-so confusing because the apartment still wasn't even ready after the assistant manager said I couldn't do a walk-through prior because it "wasn't ready". I called that Monday and he kept it brief and said someone would be out. The exterminator came out that Tuesday. Said that the issue was coming from the unit below.
Well, today is the 1st of November and I moved in the 9th of Oct. Still, no resolution. Also, the bathroom fan! So, I thought it was working because it SOUNDED like it did, but low and behold - nope! I had it on one day while I was showering and I swore I could smell smoke. I look up and its coming from the bathroom fan! I'll insert a picture to show you WHY it was smoking. Also, each unit does not have its own fire extinguishers. I live on the top floor and the extinguisher is down the stairs in the hallway. So, if you are top floor and have a small fire, I hope you have time to run all the way down stairs to get the extinguisher!
There are no washer in dryers in the units, also. They have two washers, two dryers and they are shared. If you don't mind other people's cat and dog hair all over your clothes then the washers and dryers should be no problem. Don't expect Lindale (Targa) to have someone come out and clean the laundry room for you.
I chose this place for the convenience - close to my work and my childcare. It's in an amazing and safe neighborhood surrounded parks, schools, businesses, and even the hospital. This place has SO much potential, the only issue is it's being ran by the wrong people seemingly
