It's time for another breakfast foods review! 🍳
Parking lot is currently transformed to outdoor seating, so be ready to look for street parking. Luckily, the tables rotate quickly, so you'll only need about 1.5 hours' worth of quarters!
When we arrived, there were about 5-6 parties ahead of us and I want to say we probably waited only 15 minutes. When we were seated, they quickly took our drink orders and moved the specials menu right next to our table for browsing. I appreciated that a lot. 🥺
What we got:
The clam chowder came with a slice of garlic toast. Oyster crackers will no longer suffice; this is the new standard. It was hearty with lots of chunky veggies.
I've never been to a breakfast place that offers toast, muffins, or FREAKIN CINNAMON ROLLS with their breakfast sets. I think it's pretty obvious what I went with. My eggs and sausage were pretty standard, hard to mess those up. The potatoes were okay, very forgettable. If I could go back in time, I just wouldn't have eaten them. They seemed like boiled potatoes that were cooked on the skillet briefly.
The cinnamon roll was phenomenal. I don't like having nuts(or pecans?) in sweets, but we finished it anyway. It's soft and gooey (but still completely cooked). A smidge of butter is provided to make it extra indulgent. So good!
The orange juice came in a cute cup and was the perfect amount of tartness to cut through the hearty dishes from this meal.
I've been to very little Santa Cruz eateries, but it's clear Linda's cafe is loved by locals and tourists alike.
Loved this little breakfast spot! Great food, excellent staff (everyone was happy and friendly!), and it was quaint inside with good, shaded outdoor seating. We had 2 omelette’s and the eggs over easy with bacon & home-style potatoes. The cinnamon roll tasted home made, the side of potato’s with sour cream was amazing and good for sharing, and the omelette were perfectly cooked with yummy cheese and fresh avo. Would definitely go back, even with a wait!
