Where to even begin with MDRN. I reached out to them among a handful of other contractors when I purchased a home that needed some renovation. Guil and Eyal (brothers/owners/contractors) were initially accommodating and were willing to be flexible on price. 2 years after their renovation work was completed and I find myself needing to either completely redo or finally finish a lot of the work they did (or didn't do). Definitely wasn't prepared for the mental and financial trauma that a hapless, disorganized contractor can cause, and MDRN were certainly those things to us, bottom line.
Firstly, they are both the contractors and the project managers, so to speak, though their "management" of my project left more than a lot to be desired. MDRN did not have anyone solely or even partly dedicated to our job. It leaves a hole in the oversight structure that must be in place for something with as many moving parts as a renovation.
Under their lack of watch, the crews they hired were caught drinking excessively (trash bags full of beer cans), taking gas station male enhancement pills, and sleeping on the job in our home. Aside from their carpenter (who is excellent and deserves better), any and all of the craftspeople they brought in were unqualified to complete the work and what was completed was shoddy at best. They would put one guy on, I find out he was up to shenanigans the whole time instead of working, he'd be fired, and a new guy would come the next day. It continued on like this through the entirety of our 3 month remodel.
Most of this "work" is now, only 2 years later, needing to be completely redone. This includes plumbing, stucco, tiling, electrical, and more. Just one example: we recently had a tree fall on a power transformer in our neighborhood, causing a power surge. That surge fried the electronics of only the fixtures that MDRN renovated or installed, everything else was fine. My current electrician pulled an electric mirror that they had installed off a wall and showed me the black spark marks that could have started a fire inside the wall due to the wires behind it not being capped properly. None of the bathtub pan areas were waterproofed properly and I now have to rip all of the tile up and redo it to avoid further water damage to the subfloor. Exterior doors not sealed and damaging new hardwood floors, literally unfinished undersides of kitchen countertops, tile needing to be redone TWICE due to a complete lack of ability by their "tiling expert", toilet flanges not connected properly. If MDRN touched it, I now have to redo it due to their negligence.
If none of the above scares you, about 10 months after the completion of the renovation work by MDRN, we reached back out to Guil and Eyal to discuss some of the things we noticed weren't completed or had fallen apart. They both showed up with a man I had never met before who they announced as their staff "contracting consultant". I, a small woman who was pregnant at the time, shuffled them around to show the specific areas that we were addressing. They responded to every item by calling me delusional and said it was ridiculous to expect them to redo anything at that point. They accused me of attempting to extort them. Their "consultant" began to impose himself physically over me. I asked the three of them to leave my property, at which point they stayed on my porch attempting to berate me and argue with me further. I told the "consultant" repeatedly that he was making me physically uncomfortable, he repeatedly gave me a look like he was going to hurt me.
To sum it all up: there's nothing quite as awful as a breach of trust and threat to precious, hard-earned resources, both of which I experienced with MDRN. If I could give 0 stars, I would, but I'll have to settle for warning anyone who comes to this page that you should most definitely look for other options. Buyer beware!
