Absolutely a 100% experience from Start to finish!! I have never felt in better hands than with Dr. Megan Dreveskracht. She listened and heard me and I so appreciate that. I can say I am so happy with my results!! Thank you for this team!!
I was supposed to have top surgery yesterday 3/12/24. About a week and a half prior, on the day that was supposed to be my pre op appointment, dr. Dreveskracht’s care coordinator Alicia Boyd called me and said that the operation was cancelled because my insurance had revoked approval of the surgery. She then proceeded to give me untrue and inaccurate advice about how to move the situation forward, seemingly not having talked to my insurance company at all since receiving the voicemail, and essentially left me in the dark. She also urged me to consider this a “blessing in disguise”. I discovered through calling insurance myself that the issue was due to one of my letters of recommendation not being up to standard. I got this fixed in a matter of days, but by this point, I had received a mychart message stating that the care team “could no longer meet my needs as a patient” and that I was being fired as a client. This changed my situation from surgery being pushed back a few weeks or a month or two to no surgery, at all. There has been zero communication from the office since then despite my asking for clarification. I did, however, receive a bill for a visit I was told I would not be billed for.
This is the culmination of a many months long process involving multiple consultations, paperwork and me losing over 25 pounds to meet the polyclinic’s BMI limit (a limit of which I had not been informed of until the very end of my first consult, due to, in the care coordinator’s own words, disorganization in the office). I have no idea why I have been treated this way and I am left to assume that it is borne out of embarrassment at mistakes or due to some prejudice against those seeking gender confirmation surgeries.
Because of the disorganized and uncaring actions of the office I am now left at square one of starting over with an entirely different surgeon for a surgery I had been planning my entire year around for months and months. Again, I was not a new patient being brushed off after an unsuccessful consultation, I was literally scheduled for surgery and had assumed that the insurance headache was rather routine. I was told at my first consultation that the doctor’s books are kept relatively small so as to provide a greater level of care to each patient, which I absolutely have not experienced. I do not recommend seeking top surgery here unless you are okay with the possibility of being dropped if your insurance acts up, which is commonplace for transgender surgery.
Dr. Dreveskracht herself in my interactions with her was polite, direct, confident, knowledgeable and seems like a great surgeon.
