Unless you are an influencer or model don’t bother going to this salon. I have been to Minx on 2 separate occasions. I will say the quality of the work/manicure is superb. My manicure lasted 3-4 weeks but I had serious issues with the customer service. When I left after my first appointment I vowed never to return because of the service (not the quality of my manicure). My top nail artist was distracted and on her phone throughout my 2 hour appointment. She even left me at the station to go to the back and take a call. She came back, still on the call and remained on the phone for the last 1.5hrs of my treatment. I had a discount code for 1st time customers. The owner was argumentative about applying it and only applied it to the second portion of my payment (50% is paid at time of booking). Although I vowed to never return, my manicure was so great that I decided to give it a second chance. Upon arrival I explained that I was not able to get back in soon enough so I applied a clear coat of shellac to my nails to prevent them from breaking. The same top nail artist was doing my manicure. She was again very distracted by her phone. Repeatedly stopping my manicure to touch her screen and check for messages. At one point again stopped my manicure to open and read a message that clearly upset her. She was shaking her head and lost track of what she was doing. She apologized and said “sorry my head is not working”. She again took her phones and left me at the station to go in the back again. She was applying several coats of gel, bonding, base coat (all clear) so I didn’t notice but before I knew it she was done my manicure and had applied clear polish. I was really displeased, I did not I asked for clear, she in fact never at any point asked me how I wanted my nails finished and said she heard me say clear. I told her, yes I told you I HAD clear polish on when you started my manicure. At this point the manager came over and said they would have to spend another 2 hrs to redo my nails if I wanted polish because they would have to take them down to the nail bed again and she didn’t recommend that for the health of my nails. She ended up putting a coat of color over top which made my nails thick and was not what I had come in for. I was in LA on holiday and was looking forward to a beautiful manicure. It was really frustrating and really expensive for the subpar results for the time and money spent. Not to mention I felt really undervalued as a customer. At the end when I was walking out (because the owner had asked me to pre-pay, something I also see as poor customer service. I don’t think customers should be paying for a service until it is received) the owner stopped me and said their was an additional charge to “fix” a nail. I did not have a broken mail, it was full length but had a small weak spot where she applied a tiny dab of gel. This was likely her way of getting another 20$ out of me. I expressed my disappointment and I was met with disagreement and argument. I am absolutely appalled with the customer service and although the technical work of the manicure is great I WILL NEVER RETURN for this reason.
IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER. Your attitude is the reason I will not return. The only important people in your view are models and influencers. Your salon is not out of my price range, the standard of service does not meet the price and that is the issue. I did not ask for a discounted pedicure, I told you I did not have the time to spend 4hrs getting services and asked if it was possible for a quick polish change on my feet. I did not even ask about price for this. You charged me 130$ for a sub par service, your nail technician admitted to being distracted and you did not so much as apologize. Congratulations on your magazine articles but I expect more than your fancy facade. I would have been satisfied with a simple apology for the mess up and an offer of service at a later date. A little goes a long way when it comes to customer service.
Judith did a fantastic job. She meticulously shaped and cared for each finger nail and cuticle. I really appreciate her attention to detail.
