I wish I was writing this review with more stars, as I benefited immensely from this program. However, I am currently on track to lose my job as the medical staff is refusing to fill out some paperwork from my employer. The paperwork is needed to serve as a return to work notice and an explanation of missed days at work WHILE I WAS IN THE PROGRAM. They say it is because I have been discharged from the program. I am not seeking additional time on disability, this has nothing to do with the state or other entity, this is strictly paperwork for my employer. This scenario is causing so much undue stress it is hard to believe they would put myself or others in this position. I have contacted the office and manager regarding this situation with no resolve. I am trying to reach some other authority at the hospital as I am sure they have received payment for my therapy from the insurance companies already.

I’ve had two years to consider this review. Adult male in 40’s. I admitted myself into their outpatient therapy program as I was depressed and dealing with very high levels of anxiety. The first thing they did that I did not agree with was put me in their drug therapy program. I was and am a marijuana user but do not drink alcohol or partake in any other illicit drugs. They still insisted I join their ‘dual’ diagnosis program. For those not in the know dual is a fancy way of saying drug diagnosis. This decision was made even though at the time I had quit smoking on my own and passed their drug test. I told them I’m not going to AA/NA meetings or doing the 12 steps, just not gonna happen. Still they insisted. Ok it is what it is. But then I found out from another patient, who used marijuana, that they simply refused to take the drug test and started walking out the door but they didn’t want him to leave and he continued under their not ‘dual’ program. All in all I found the dual diagnosis sessions to be a waste of time but found the others to be beneficial. Another complaint I have is they are supposed to assign you a therapist as a sort of go to as everything is group therapy but my assigned therapist never introduced herself to me while everybody else was meeting theirs on day one or two. I finally met mine when I said something in session that concerned them. I will credit them with their willingness to sign disability forms as there was no way I could have continued working while undergoing therapy. Lots of psychiatrists out there simply refuse to sign disability forms. Other issues I had involved no conversations about anonymity. It was implied only. Also they had lists of psychologists to retain for after outpatient therapy but half of them did not accept insurance. In fact at least 2 of the hospital therapists were on the list but did not take insurance. It bothered me they were double dipping and it boggles me still today that a large amount of mental health professionals don’t take insurance. Shoot I can’t even work but you expect me to fill out claim forms with the insurance company? Lastly I believe Memorial prescribed me too many meds. After their program my new psychiatrist just didn’t understand why I was on a certain medication. After I looked into it more I couldn’t figure it out either. All in all this is a nice place to talk about your problems and work through them but as with everything else it seems today you have to take charge and not let them do as they please.
