This place fills the gap between the likes of 101 North, Lure and super high-end Mastro's. It's cozier, awesome wine selection and cocktails, great starters and entrees. We love their bar setting and happy hour. Definitely coming back!

As excited as I was to finally try Modern Kitchen, I walked in and was (yet again - another local restaurant) blown away by the horrific Fabuloso smell that permeated every square inch of the place! I cannot understand why using this subpar masking agent is supposed to imply clean. It builds a film or layer that would take something caustic to remove. In the meantime, everything I taste or smell is tainted by this noxious odor! If that wasn't enough, here is another example of a restaurant that closes at 9:00 but starts shutting down at 8:30! What is this?? When did this become ok and the norm? Start closing AFTER you close and lock the door, not while patrons are still dining!!! Lights going off around the space, music off and busboys trying to take your plate while you are still eating. If you post that you are open until 9:00, then be open until 9:00!!! We certainly paid the same prices as folks who weren't shooed out before they were done with their rather expensive meal.

Modern Kitchen joins to seemingly endless stable of New American establishments in the area but does little to differentiate itself. A somewhat forgettable menu and an unfortunate decor choice of light blue fabric chairs and gold metal finishes. I do hope it improves and that they try new things with the menu!
