The food was mediocre at best, although the ravioli was a rip-off with only 5 poorly cooked pieces at $26. We called earlier to say we're celebrating a birthday and the moment we entered bearing a birthday cake, the staff stopped us in our tracks and pointed out that they charge a per person cake fee of $3.50, which I've never encountered in other restaurants before. There's also an additional 20% tariff for large groups. We were a party of seven. We had a group voucher which should have been applied to the total Before taxes, but the staff forgot, and didn't bother to redo the math and applied it after, driving up the costs. Pointing out the hidden costs here, and coupled with the very mediocre fare, you might want to think twice about visiting this place, especially for special occasions when you don't want it ruining your night. There are places which give you a better run for your money and time.

Stephen and I had dinner and loved our food. The spicy sausage ricotta pasta was delicious. The homemade noodles were tender and not soggy holding their own with the sausage and sauce. The carbonara was equally the bomb. We also had salads and each a glass of wine. I only gave 4-stars as they played country western music that affected the ambience and experience of Italy. If your looking to sit outside they have a large seating area off the sidewalk.

This is truly a special, wonderful spot. The owner, Sofana, is so lovely, and if she suggests a daily special, trust her! My favorite is the tortellini soup, and the meatballs and any seafood are always winners. Mondello is kid-friendly, date-friendly, and can be as fancy or as casual as you are. It’s our favorite restaurant in Seattle!
