Montessori Academy of N Hollywood

Its not the same from five years ago..The original owner has died and has changed the staffing. They don't follow the traditional Montessori form of teaching. My child was having a hard time in the school and not behaving for 2 weeks and I was never informed of the behavior untill they wanted to suspend a 3 yr old from school. After the problem was brought to my attention and a week of excessive phone calls. My son was removed. After a week of being notified and within 30 days from our last parent teacher conference. Where his teacher said he was doing fine and no problems! I asked the senior administrator why it took her so long to notify me? She replied..."im sorry I thought we could handle it in house. I thought we where helping out." ~Rubbish! Help is not notifying the parents of good or poor behavior two weeks after the fact ! Help is not when you "think you where helping out" and then you find out that your child has been eating by himself studying by himself and separated from the class without any knowledge from their parent. Discipline is a parent's job ! The job of the school is to report not to take it upon themselves the role of PARENTS. New staff was brought in on a regular basis without any introduction to the parents or students. Our final month payment was waived..But that doesn't take away the lack of quality or consistency that I experienced while there. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL FOR ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A TRUE MONTESSORI TEACHING CURRICULUM!

High fees for tuition, class suplies, school t shirt is $20.00 and summer camp fee is redicoulous. Education curriculum is not very good. School is very stingy whit arts and crafts and in general with the kinds of activities they do with the kids. The parking in the front very inconvenient.

My daughter has been attending since she was three years old. She has had a wonderful experience. The teachers and the Directors have all been great. As an educator I am very impressed by their program and the patience and care they have towards all the children. My daughter has learned so much at this school. I will be sad to see her move on to Kindergarden in the Fall. I am very greatful for the care and love she has received at Smart Start
