The lady who runs this place is so awesome. Even when I was a turd at first.
I had reserved a U-Haul at the place by my house in Smokey Point. Less than 5 minutes to my scheduled time to pick up the truck, I received a text from U-Haul saying I instead needed to go all the way up to Mount Vernon to get the truck. I was very irritated and called this location to find out what happened. As I was already in a time crunch, I was not very pleasant on the phone. I hung up and tried to find a different company to go with, but nothing was available.
I ended up calling back to see if my reservation was still good as it had been around an hour and a half at this point. She said she could still help me and to come on up.
When I got there, I was greeted very nicely, and we discussed what happened. She ended up comping me a bunch of extra miles since my drive had effectively doubled, and even gave me a free day due to the mix-up putting me way behind schedule.
The gentleman working with her came out to the truck and personally made sure everything was in order. He went over it with a fine tooth comb and made sure there were no unaccounted for scratches or damage I might get charged for.
I have had three bad experiences with U-Haul now, and no good ones. I refuse to use them again. But if I ever need storage up in Mount Vernon, the experience I had here means this will automatically be the place I choose.
These wonderful people made for a very personal experience that I wish more companies tried for.
