Today was my second visit. The first time went fine but it was for a pedicure probably two years ago. So today. I went in for a gel fill in my mani, new color of course, and to fix one broken nail. I did not have an appointment but I was sat down right away and I waited maybe 10-15 minutes for the gal named Mary I believe to come back from safeway! When she got back I showed her a picture of the nail shape exactly what I wanted upon her request and viola ! She did it. She was quick and she didn’t knick my finger once. No “burn” from the drill thingy. I’ve been to many salons and I will definitely be coming back and requesting her personally. She was fantastic! Oh! Also - it was like $35. Not to mention, they offer wine and or mimosas when you sit down!
I want to start by saying the employees were extremely kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is calm and enjoyable. However, my main concern is sanitation. I got the dip powder service, and she dipped my nails right into the main jar of clear and colored dip powder. That's worrisome, especially since she did not clean my nails with alcohol prior to starting. I also can not be sure she used clean nail files on me as she took her hand files and e file from her station and put them back in her station when she was done with my nails. She also had to scrape off old product from the e file bit, which makes me wonder if it had been sanitized properly after the last client. Lastly, she didn't take the time to shape the nails after the dip powder was applied, so I left with my nails looking quite unnatural and lumpy. When you look down the barrel of my nails, there is hardly any product in the apex and too much on the sides, causing a square look on the nail bed. I'm disappointed, but I do appreciate how kind and welcoming the staff were.
Update: After 4 days, the dip powder started to lift off of my nails. I reached out to the salon and they were kind and offered to redo my nails at no charge, but after talking to them about the concerns regarding the cleanliness of the dip powder, they were not willing to change their process so I declined to have my nails redone. I asked for a refund instead because the possibility of an infection is not worth it to me. They said they were unable to provide a refund. I would not recommend visiting this salon until they update their cleanliness procedures.
