I believe only members can visit this place but a few times of the year they open to the public. In was able to visit on one of those times. Good beer, in the middle of the forest!!
You can become a member by volunteering lots of hours from what I heard.

We finally made the trip and we're not disappointed. We got there a little later than expected, so we had a long line to contend with. But the surrounding forest and the views while waiting helped take our minds off the wait. And once we got our beer, the environment was even more magical. If you ever have time, this event is a must.

Super fun location. Came for the Maifest event and was not disappointed. This was a large German event. The food was great. Lots of beer to be had. Being right next to Muir Woods, the scenery was spectacular. Watching the German dancing was awesome. Easy to get to if your willing to do a ~1 mile hike.
