My assessment experience with Dr. Neely was wonderful! It's hard enough to find a doctor willing (or able) to diagnose autism in adult women; it's even rarer to find one who is also able to compassionately and nonjudgmentally work with trans folks. Dr. Neely was respectful of all parts of my identity, and I never felt uncomfortable at any point in the process. Neely also recognizes and respects the fact that many autistic people need to self-diagnose because of our broken healthcare system.
Dr. Neely's expertise and awareness that autism can present in many different ways helped me identify characteristics/traits of my autism that I hadn't previously recognized, which helped me develop a fuller sense of self-understanding.
The insurance verification was incredibly smooth and all handled by Dr. Neely's office, which made the process so much easier. He's also paneled with several major insurance companies. One thing to be aware of is that you will need to call the office to schedule an appointment--which is definitely difficult for a lot of autistic folks--but the receptionist who handled my intake was fantastic, both in terms of making sure I was clear on the details and respecting my correct name and pronouns.
Overall, I had an excellent experience with Dr. Neely. Thank you!
I am beyond happy that I get to work with this wonderful team. Every single person, including receptionist, is so so genuine. Knowing we have people who are so informed on the complexities and profile of ADHD and ASD in assigned female at birth folk is so so important. I understand my brain better and I felt heard. They were so quick to get me an appointment, and can see you virtually. My only negatives are that they do not do med management or kid diagnoses. Thank you team!
