With Amazon willing to deliver comics to you cheaper than the book price, it takes a lot to get someone into a brick-and-mortar, right?
NEC has an open, uncrowded layout and a chill attitude. I'm able to peruse the new titles, flip few a couple, and not worry about being hassled or rushed into a sale. That being said, I know that if I were to ask a question, the staff would be attentive. They seem to know what's up.
If you are looking for something specific, or if you want a "recommendations" tab to tunnel-vision you into your next title, hit up Amazon; it's always going to be the most efficient and cost effective.
BUT! If you want to get a vibe for what is going on in the industry and have the opportunity to browse uninterrupted until you stumble upon something cool, a local shop like NEC is the way to go.
I've been a subscriber here for a couple months and plan to be for as long as they are open.
