10/5 stars for Nexus Fitness. Honestly this place checks all the boxes. I’ve worked in the fitness industry for 17 years, (as a trainer, as a professor, and as a fitness director of a local university), so I know a thing or two about what makes this place exceptional.
- Roger – He’s the personality behind this place. As the owner of Nexus Fitness, you can tell he has such a pride in ownership not only when it comes to the space itself, but his craft. He’s super friendly, personable, and easy to talk to (when he’s not keeping you on track with your sets and reps). He’s extremely knowledgeable when it comes to exercise selection (meaning he chooses the exercises that are right for you and your body). The exercises he chooses are safe, effective, with a touch of difficulty without making it excessively or obnoxiously complicated. This means you’ll get exactly what you need to progress without getting injured in the process, or being made to feel dumb because you’re not ready to perform a particular exercise. You can tell he is a caring and kind hearted practitioner from the second you step foot in the door.
- The Studio – This is one of the most immaculate studios I’ve ever stepped foot in. The floors are clean, and the mats and equipment are pristine. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to this sort of thing, and I don’t normally see a gym that is up to my standard, but Nexus Fitness EXCEEDS this small, but important detail when it comes to level of cleanliness. The aesthetic of the studio is super cool with the black walls and the intentional pops of color around the space. In terms of equipment, there is literally everything you need, and nothing you don’t. It’s organized and set up to be functional with ample space to move around. Lastly, the music Roger bumps during sessions is on point and gets me energized and motivated to workout hard.
- Location/Accessibility – The studio is directly off the 405 freeway, so it’s super easy to access. It’s tucked away in an industrial section right off Spring street. Sometimes these areas can feel sketchy but this location feels safe. I felt secure leaving my car parked on the street. The building exterior is nice, well maintained, and has a big Nexus Fitness logo on the front door so you know you’re in the right spot.
I can’t recommend Nexus Fitness enough. Trust me on this one- go see Roger if you want to train with an exceptional fitness professional!
