I had a fantastic experience dress shopping here! I live out of town, but was engaged a few months ago, so thought I’d do a bit of dress shopping to entertain my mom while visiting, not thinking I’d buy anything. I had the crazy idea at one point to have my mom’s dress altered, and so I made a last-minute appointment to have a consult on whether it would be possible, since the reviews said she was the best in town.
We met after lunch, and tried on the dress with Nina, and talked through what I would want to have done. Nina did a great job of setting expectations, and made it clear that it would be possible, but that I was basically asking to rebuild the dress, and it would probably be easier (and cheaper!) to just make a new dress, or better yet buy one off the rack and tailor it. I really appreciated her honesty and professional opinion, as it saved us what could’ve been a lengthy back-and-forth ending up with something I possibly wouldn’t want!
Since I was in the shop anyways, she offered to have me try on a few of her dresses from a previous rack sale, as she was trying to clear inventory for her own designs (smart!). Based on what I had told her, the first dress that she picked out was exactly what I had been looking for, but I never would’ve known or probably picked it myself! The sale price was also fantastic. I even went to a full bridal store the next day, and couldn’t find anything that I liked as much, and not even anything near that price point! We were back at Nina’s the next day to take the dress home. Best of all, the dress is safely sitting in my mom’s closet (not mine!), ready for whenever weddings are allowed again, and I already know that I’ll be back to Nina for the alterations!
