This review is intended to be a WARNING about parking at Northpark.
First, don’t get yourself in position where you are juggling one parking spot between two or more cars. You will soon regret it. The apartments are directly across the street from a busy car dealership. Dealership cars will occupy most of the street spots during the day. Other apartments have been built nearby in recent years. This has reduced the available overnight street parking to almost none. You could easily drive around for 30 minutes searching for a spot and still end up hiking half a mile to your apartment. Management offers overnight guest parking at the office after 7pm, but there are only a few spots, and leaving even one minute late after 7am will get you towed (see below).
Second, pay very, VERY close attention to all signage and all red curbing (painted around most of the complex), or only park in your designated spot. If you miss either of these you will be towed. I repeat, you WILL be towed. And it will cost you $$$.
Northpark has contracted with a predatory truck driver operating under the name “Express Towing”, who patrols the complex day and night searching for victims. If you make a parking mistake your car will vanish very quickly with zero notice and zero information and at that point I can guarantee you that getting it back will be a very, VERY unpleasant experience.
“Express Towing” is basically a creepy dude with a truck based out of a shady little lot down a back alley in Belmont. He will take offense at you calling him before you pick up (yelled at me for waking him up…..during business hours at 3 in the afternoon???) and will only grunt at you in monosyllables, just like a Neanderthal. When you arrive at the location in Belmont to rescue your vehicle there will be no signage, no office, and no place to wait. If you are picking up at night, bring a bright flashlight because there is zero lighting. The creeper will just come out of a small door in the shadows and grunt at you. If this uninviting scene is likely to make you feel vulnerable or unsafe, definitely call the police for an escort.
The creeper will be one of the most unpleasant and miserable individuals you have ever encountered. Expect him to intimidate and belittle you for wasting his time to write up an invoice (as is required by law) so that he can grant you the the privilege of giving him hundreds of dollars. Once he has your money, don’t ask any questions because he will already be busy blowing cigarette smoke in your face and will literally yell at you to get your car off the lot, all in the pitch black dark.
So…..be careful parking at Northpark! I would not wish the “Express Towing” treatment on any current or future residents. It was much less about flushing $700 down the toilet (my mistake) and much more about being forced to interact with a sociopath to simply retrieve my property. Northpark management is well aware of the many reviews detailing the nature of his obvious antisocial personality disorder on Yelp, etc; most are clearly from Northpark residents. They continue to knowingly do business with a sociopath. This choice reflects their poor level of concern for resident safety. Are there $$$ kickbacks to Northpark management from Express Towing? I have no evidence of that, but one does wonder…..🤔
**UPDATE: As of late January ‘24, Northpark is still contracted with “Express Towing”. The same truck with the same creeper pulled into the lot after 12 midnight in the middle of a rain storm and trolled around looking for victims, no doubt those who might have missed the red curbs or signage in the dark and pouring rain. BE CAREFUL!!
