I have to share how disappointed I am with this facility. If you're looking to transfer your care - this isn't where you want to transfer to, unless you don't mind receiving very delayed care and risk having their clinic coordinators lose your referral from your PCP.
My mother had requested transfer of care to NW Medical for her chemo back in January. It was a back and forth phone tag and being told they never received the referral - it was sent twice! The waiting game was getting tiresome - so we ended up reaching back out to VMMC and decided to continue treatment there in Seattle. Only today, (March 24th) did we receive a call from their coordinators to "set up" appointment. It took damn near 2 months for them to reach out to the patient!
I understand most medical facilities are struggling with staff shortages, believe me, I totally get it! However, circumstances like this is such a HUGE disservice to the community, patients and their families. Managers need to identify the disadvantaged areas and create a plan to resolve those challenging areas to help accommodate their patients, even if it is an interim plan! This is creating delays in patient care and causing more stress to the patient and their families. Had we waited any longer, who knows what could potentially happen to my mother's health!
My point: Managers, Medical leaders; take some accountability - identify the concern, address it, and improve your processes.
