Worse hospital in the are. Pay the extra fee and have ambulances take you to Columbia hospital in Astoria. I sat in pain after being brought in by ambulance for my left foot after a fall. I was denied treatment until a bed opened up. The doctor I did see some 3 hrs later was more concerned about handling his religious material our then my injury. I did get pain meds until I was about to be discharged. This hospital doesn’t care about people, it cares about money. My suspicions are they can close any day if they don’t see the number of people and change them.
The nurses are short tempered and lacking in people skills
The only reason I am allowing 2 stars, is that as a previous employee I know there are some very kind and competent individuals on staff. Other than that, I would give no stars based on my recent encounter. I was rescued from my front lawn, after falling on the ice and breaking my hip, by our local EMT’s who were truly saviors. There is no way to express how grateful I am that they were there. Once I arrived at OBH ER , I entered the gates of hell. I came in screaming in agony. Begging, pleading then demanding medication for my pain. I was moved from the ambulance stretcher to the bed without any pre-medication, roughly handled during and after the transfer. I continually begged cried screamed for medication. The nurses priority appeared to be following protocol and insisted that removing my damp clothing was the priority, then it was “getting me into the system”. I screamed that I wanted another nurse, along with my “demands” that my pain be addressed first, I was left at the mercy of the individuals present- and received none. If ever again I need to be transported for emergency care and cannot be taken across the river to CMH, I will ask the paramedics to throw me out on the side of the road and leave me there.
