Wonderfully relaxing walk through history along Officers Row. This is a tree lined street and walking path along the northern edge of the Ft. Vancouver National Historic Site. The homes along Officer Row have all been restored . The street is approximately 1 mile long and has a walking path on both sides of the street. This area is perfect for strolling and viewing the restored homes in any season but especially beautiful during the summer and during fall. The hardwood trees lining the road and dotting the lawns of the homes turn beautiful shades of golden yellow, red and flaming orange during the fall. Hot summer days make this a perfectly shaded walking area. Easily and quickly accessible from Interstate 5 . Just minutes from downtown Vancouver. Final take --Go and enjoy Free!!! Plenty of parking
Gorgeous stretch of tree-lined boulevard dotted with 21 Colonial-era houses that once belonging to US military officers serving at Fort Vancouver. Most of the houses here are now populated by private business entities, with the Grant House being one of the few publicly accessible, hosting a wine bar (Willful Wine) five days a week, from noon to 8pm (sans Monday and Tuesday).
This is the crown jewel of the Fort Vancouver National Park, and easily the most trafficked, although the actual fort itself is a fascinating place to visit, and touring the whole complex should be a required portion of student curriculum of students in the Portland-Metro area, as well as a must-visit for any American history enthusiast (which should be most of us, I'd hope).
