Of all of maestro Olvera’s many fine qualities as a guitar teacher, the one that impresses me the most is his tact. I came to him thinking I was already a pretty good guitarist – I just needed help with a new genre of playing. He managed to help me with that goal while subtly making clear that my fundamentals needed work – hand position, arm position, the way the fingers on my right hand pluck the strings. He has a way of encouraging you, appreciating what you do well, while giving you suggestions for how to do even better.
Time with him is well spent.
