The vinyasa classes are all too similar. Not enough integration of poses mostly a lot of Vinyasa through to downward dog. The bathrooms are really dirty. The sauna is always at mild to medium heat never very hot. The whole studio has a vibe of holier than than you and the front desk woman treats you like you're lucky to be there instead of the other way around. Her sparkly eyeshadow and wacky personality doesn't help curb her passive aggressive attitude. Samantha's classes are the best. All too often you'll hear Studio drama being talked about openly. I don't need to hear other yoga teachers criticize each other. That's not why I'm going to yoga. Gossip is rampant here. Omshala has more of a negative feel to it due to the air of pompous people who make it their business to assess your own personal growth instead of just minding their own business and practicing yoga. Peggy's classes seem preachy as if she's got some lesson she wants to teach everyone because she knows more than them or something. Other than her piousness her classes are good for learning alignment. She is a really great teacher despite the way she comes across. Overall, I think this studio has a few good teachers yet they lose a lot of points because they think that they're the best studio in town. Well it might be aesthetically pleasing it's not pleasing to the heart.

Ultimately grateful for this Yoga studio and love attending class there multiple times per week. Om Shala is deeply rooted in the community of Yogi's in Arcata and is regarded very highly by their many returning yoga students. Personally, as a new yoga student, I had felt very welcomed by the amazing community that surrounds Om Shala. Their approach to teaching yoga is incredibly mindful and unique; often with a focus on therapeutic and meditative practice. The facility it's self is top of the line; clean, up to date and a perfect ambiance for getting into the proper headspace for meditation and/or yoga. I am beyond words for how much I love and appreciate this yoga studio. From their knowledgable staff to their sauna to their music events and all the other fantastic services the studio provides, this is the perfect studio weather you're just starting out or you're wishing to deepen your already existing practice. I honestly believe they're in 100% for the right reason. To help people live a more full life through the practice no matter what your background. My hope is other people will see this and visit Om Shala and hopefully it's as special of a place to them as it is to me. Thank you to all the staff and community at Om Shala for the space and for the practice. NAMASTE

Beautiful, warm, clean and kind. Great atmosphere. Good vibes. I love Sasha's class. It's challenging yet easy to tone down or pipe up depending on each yogi's personal needs. -and great music.
