Clean, characterful and picturesque (a little retro which I like, but not at all shabby) and the staff are good. Shelves are generally well-stocked and variety is fairly good, checkouts are well-staffed so there’s rarely a wait.
Prices are on the high side given that it’s just generic supermarket stuff, it’s not ‘fancy’ but there ya go. I still kinda enjoy going there. Locals call it ‘Paymore’ for a reason though personally I’m ok spending a bit more at this place cos AFAICT they have good benefits for staff and a union.
Produce section is excellently presented and of good quality and stock.
I find the in-store bakery underwhelming (ditto the deli) but it does have cheap nice drip coffee.
Wish I didn’t have to look at the gross fish/meat counter TBH, hard to avoid it! At least they got rid of the live lobster tank.
