I had been a patient of Dr. Gruell for almost 20 years. I consistently had my teeth cleaned 3 to 4 times a year. Initially, I had quite a bit of work done, but over the years the "dental visits for procedures" became fewer and I left my cleanings with the impression that I was doing everything right.
When my husband had a bad experience with Dr. Gruell he suggested that I get another opinion about the state of my teeth. I went to two different dentists, both informed me that I had multiple things wrong with my teeth which included two root canals and a broken tooth at the back. I was quite taken a back by this considering the "good feedback" I had been getting in Dr. Gruells office.
Currently, I am going through multiple procedures to fix these problems. I am surprised because I felt that I had a clean bill of health from Dr. Gruell. I got the same diagnosis from two different dentists. My new dentist is currently fixing old fillings that were "roughly and improperly done".
When my husband went into complain about our dental concerns, Dr. Gruell went into great lengths about what a bad patient I was and how I didn't brush my teeth properly. I felt that this was very unprofessional and hurtful and am surprised because he left me with the impression that everything was OK other than one spot that needed to be watched.
I am very happy with my new dentist. I didn't realize how uncomfortable I was with Dr. Gruell until I got a new dentist.
